H2S Alive Course in Grande Prairie

H2S Alive® is Energy Safety Canada's course on working safely in and around hydrogen sulphide, and most oil and gas sites will not let you on without a current ticket. If you work on a drilling rig, a plant, a pipeline, or any site where H2S could be present, you need this course before you can go to work. Your employer or the site you are heading to can confirm whether it is required.

The course covers what hydrogen sulphide is and why it is dangerous, how to detect it, and how to control the hazards of working around it. You learn to inspect, don, and operate self-contained breathing apparatus and supplied-air respirators, and you practise rescue and response steps for an H2S release. The practical portion is done in our classroom so you are comfortable with the equipment before you need it on site.

Your H2S Alive certificate is valid for three years from the date you pass the course. Energy Safety Canada issues the ticket, and it is recognized by operators across Canada's oil and gas industry. Keep your certificate with your site paperwork, because most operators ask to see it before you start work. When it expires, you take the full course again to renew it.

On the day of your course, bring government-issued photo ID. The full course runs in class for one day. If you completed the theory section online through Energy Safety Canada, you attend the in-person practical portion only. We provide the breathing apparatus and all the equipment you will use. The course is held at our Grande Prairie classroom, and you pay when you arrive.

This is an Energy Safety Canada certified course, taught by a certified H2S Alive instructor. When you pass, you receive an Energy Safety Canada H2S Alive certificate that is recognized by employers and operators across the oil and gas industry.

If your H2S Alive is still valid and you are renewing, you do the theory online with Energy Safety Canada and then come to us for the in-person practical.

The practical runs Monday to Thursday at 11:45 am or 4:00 pm, and takes about 30 minutes. $100 plus GST, pay when you arrive.

Bring two things: government-issued photo ID, and your Energy Safety Canada student ID. The student ID is your proof the online portion is done, and without it we cannot issue the ticket.
